About
What is Canva?
Canva is the Swiss Army knife of design tools -and for 190M+ users, that's exactly what they want. The presentation feature includes Magic Design (AI template selection), a massive library of templates, and strong real-time collaboration. It's usually the first tool people try because it's free, familiar, and does 50 other things too. For teams that need one design tool for everything, it's hard to beat.
The Canva look
You know it when you see it. Rounded corners, stock photos with overlays, the same familiar layouts with different colors. Canva decks are clean and serviceable. They also look like Canva decks. For internal stuff, that's fine. If you're presenting to a client deciding whether to work with you, looking like everyone else's Canva deck isn't great. Pitchway generates each deck from a design system, so the output is more varied and doesn't have that template-selected look.
Templates vs. personalized generation
Canva's biggest strength is its massive template library -thousands of options, pick one, swap text, done. Pitchway doesn't compete on template volume. Instead, you describe what you need and the AI generates a design using typography, spacing, and composition rules. More importantly, Pitchway can personalize the same core deck for different audiences -different emphasis, proof points, and narrative for each prospect. Canva doesn't do this. Templates are faster for one-off simple decks. Generation + personalization is better for high-stakes, repeated use.
When Canva is the right call
If you need one tool for Instagram posts, pitch decks, business cards, and video thumbnails, Canva is unbeatable. The breadth of what it does at that price is impressive. If your team already uses Canva for everything, adding presentations into the same tool makes sense. Pitchway only makes sense if presentations are important enough to justify a dedicated tool.
Tracking who sees your deck
Canva doesn't tell you if anyone opened your deck, how long they spent on each slide, or where they dropped off. Pitchway is building viewer analytics (coming soon) -so you'll be able to see what prospects look at and what they skip. Neither tool has this fully solved today, but it's on Pitchway's roadmap as a core feature.
