Using the AI Assistant

Learn how to prompt the AI agent effectively, upload reference files, and use advanced workflows to build and refine presentations faster.

How the assistant works

The AI assistant lives in the right sidebar of the editor. It can create slides, edit content, rearrange your deck, and answer questions about your presentation - all through natural language.

Every change the agent makes is applied live on the canvas. You can watch slides being built in real time.

Writing good prompts

The agent responds best to clear, specific instructions. Here are some examples:

Instead of Try
"Make it better" "Rewrite the bullet points to be shorter and more action-oriented"
"Add a slide" "Add a slide showing our 3 pricing tiers in a comparison table"
"Fix the colors" "Change the background to dark navy and make all headings white"

You do not need to be overly formal. Conversational instructions work fine - just be specific about what you want changed.

Attach files for context

Click the paperclip icon to upload files that give the agent more context:

  • Images - the agent can place them on slides or use them as reference
  • PDFs - useful for uploading brand guidelines, briefs, or reference documents
  • Spreadsheets - CSV or Excel files with data the agent can turn into charts or tables

Multi-turn conversations

The agent remembers your full conversation within a session. You can build on previous instructions:

  1. "Create a 5-slide pitch deck for a fintech startup"
  2. "Make the third slide more visual, add a diagram"
  3. "Change the color scheme to match our brand"

Each message builds on the context from previous ones.

Slide-specific instructions

You can reference specific slides in your prompts:

  • "On slide 3, replace the bullet list with a visual timeline"
  • "Delete the last slide"
  • "Move the team slide before the pricing slide"

The agent understands slide numbers and will navigate to the right slide before making changes.

Choose your model

Click the model selector at the bottom of the input area to switch between available AI models. Different models offer different trade-offs between speed and quality.

Stopping the agent

If the agent is going in a direction you do not want, click the stop button (red square) to halt generation immediately. You can then give new instructions or undo the changes.

Tips for best results

  • Be specific - "Add a dark blue section divider with the text 'Our Approach'" works better than "Add a divider"
  • Iterate in small steps - ask for one change at a time rather than everything at once
  • Use your brand kit - if you have set up a brand kit, the agent will use your colors and fonts automatically
  • Upload references - a screenshot of a slide you like gives the agent a clear target to aim for
