What gets imported
The PPTX importer handles:
- Text boxes - content, formatting, and positioning
- Images - embedded images are extracted and uploaded to your media library
- Layouts - slide dimensions, element placement, and backgrounds
- Multiple slides - the full deck is imported, not just the first slide
Some advanced PowerPoint features like animations, transitions, and SmartArt are not yet supported and will be skipped.
Start an import
From the dashboard, click Import PPTX. You will see a dialog where you can:
- Name your new project
- Select a
.pptxfile from your computer
Click Start Import and the file will be uploaded. The import runs in the background - you will be taken to the new project immediately where you can watch slides appear as they are processed.
Import progress
A progress banner at the top of the editor shows you how far along the import is. You can start editing slides that have already been imported while the rest are still processing.
Edit imported slides with AI
Once the import is complete, you can use the AI assistant just like on any other project. Common tasks after importing:
- Re-brand the deck - ask the agent to apply your brand kit colors and fonts
- Clean up layouts - have the AI tighten spacing and alignment
- Add new slides - extend the imported deck with AI-generated content
Try: "Apply my brand colors to all slides and replace the logo with ours"
File size limits
The importer accepts files up to 50 MB. If your file is larger, try removing unused media from the PowerPoint file before importing.
